Summer At Last

As you know from my last post, I am very excited that summer has arrived in the UK at last. To celebrate this, Josh and I spent yesterday in Windsor and hired a row boat along the River Thames. This is something I've been wanting to do for ages but never quite gotten round to it. It's actually pretty reasonable too - £19 for an hour. There is the option of hiring a motor boat instead but I thought a row boat would be nicer. I (of course) didn't realise how hard work rowing is, and while I relaxed and enjoyed our picnic on one end of the boat, Josh was working up a bit of a sweat on the other end, trying to steer the boat in the right direction and on the right side of the Thames. I think next time he's hoping for a motor boat instead...

Berry Picking

Finally, summer as arrived! After a month and a half of rain. Josh and I took full advantage of getting out in the sunshine and went berry picking in Adelstone. I've been strawberry picking once before but that was years ago and this time it was far more fun!

English Summer

So this weekend I headed down to Frimley Green for their annual 'carnival'. I say carnival, but for me and my friends it's more of an excuse to have a few Sunday afternoon drinks at the pub, usually in the hot English sun. This year however was not warm and sunny, but instead pretty grey and drizzly. Don't you just love the English summer?! Anyway hence my choice of outfit for the occasion - black on black - which is much better suited for the autumn and even possibly winter months (I think I was feeling a little overtaken with the current weather when I got dressed that morning.) I did however throw on a pale pink blazer over the top to add a slight fresh summer feel to it, even if the real thing wasn't there.

The Packhouse

On Saturday afternoon Josh and I spent a couple of hours admiring the old antique furniture and modern home-ware treasures found in The Packhouse. The Packhouse prides itself on being "an independent lifestyle retail experience, a one-stop retreat for customers in search of something unique and individual for their home and themselves." I can't believe I've never been to The Packhouse before, especially considering one of my old school friends has set up her own hair salon inside the building. I definitely need to revisit the shop when I'm moving into my first place (whatever year that will be) and buy one of the many amazing wooden chests I fell in love with. It's a great place to purchase bunting too if you are short on time to make it yourself, as well as cute floral wash bags and a tonne of other things including vintage clothing. The Packhouse is situated in Tongham, close to Farnham and I would urge anyone close to there that hasn't been to do so. There's also an art gallery with a small number of impressive paintings, as well as a wonderful cafe that serves the best lemon drizzle cake for a really reasonable price. Weekend Visual

Josh's mum bought me this beautiful velvet waistcoat for Christmas last year, which I absolutely love. But what with being away for the past five months, I hadn't had much chance to wear it until now. I'm wearing it with a sleeveless casual dress from Supré (from Australia) and tassel loafers from Topshop. My silver rings are from India, grey bracelet from Pandora, pearl bracelet from Thomas Sabo, navy and brown bracelets are gifts, and chunky white watch from Thailand.

Turquoise Jeans

So my sister owns these fab pair of turquoise jeans (courtesy of Topshop), which I've been dying to wear ever since I returned from my travels. But with this current grim weather I haven't really had the chance. However one slight ray of sunshine in the week and here they are, teamed with a loose white crop top from H&M.
